Savory Spice Blend

The Savory Spice Blend is the perfect, salt free solution to many of the healthful recipes in The How Not to Die Cookbook that was released on 12/5/17.

I’m new to cooking. So I’ve been really excited to start off on the right foot with The How Not to Die Cookbook. It’s a great idea to make your own spices fresh from scratch. Spices are really the place to start because they can add so much flavor and health to every meal.

This particular spice, The Savory Spice Blend, the amazing Dr. Greger offers us in his new book, “The How Not to Die Cookbook”. This spice is naturally fantastic because it’s full of phytonutrients and rich in antioxidant power. It making so many recipes in this incredible book super delicious and as healthy as can be in every way!

I’ve used this in the “Nutty Parm” for the “Roasted Vegetable Lasagna” and the “Black Bean Soup with Quinoa & Kale” out of the book so far. I’m hooked! You can always make it your own, it’s hard deviate because it’s so hard to beat!

This Savory Spice Blend recipe makes about a 1/2 of a cup. So far each recipe needed 2 teaspoons worth. So, this would make about 24 recipes I suppose.

*It is recommended those with Chron’s disease or hidradenitis suppurativa avoid nutritional yeast.

Ingredients

2 tbsp nutritional yeast*
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp dried parsley
1 tbsp dried basil
2 tsp dried thyme
2 tsp dry mustard (mustard powder)
2 tsp pakrika
1/2 tsp ground turmeric
1/2 tsp celery seeds

Store in cool, dry place.
